he latest campaign for Carling Black Label - under the tagline "You know who your mates are - BELONG" seems to have brought lager advertising round fll circle to where it was 30 years ago. The achingly clever "cool" approach has been disarded, it seems - before too long we'll be back to following the Hofmeister bear.
I'm often tempted to write more at length about advertising, because once you look at it in a detached light, the currenst of fashion in the methods of parting us from our money are quite fascinating...
