i) the best song ever about US foreign policy:
Randy Newman - Political Science (with a slightly tasteless but entertaining flash animation)
ii) one of the best songs ever about hope, change, and things getting better. In fact, just one of the best songs ever - listen to the whole thing, as it's the second half that knocks me out every time.
Laura Nyro - Save the Country (on You Tube, but basically rather scrappy audio with a few stills)
