For those in search of literary gratification, a very good deal I have recently availed myself of is that The Works have the complete Sherlock Holmes, in a 10-volume Penguin paperback boxed set, for a frankly derisory £10. Every home should be at least near one.
For aural gratification, Tracey Thorn (late of Everything But The Girl) is back, with an album which picks up where Walking Wounded left off (and thus sidesteps the execrable final EBTG album, Temperamental). Extraordinary to think Tracey Thorn has been a distinctive voice in the British music biz for over 25 years now - nearly as long as Kate Bush, though without the same effect (or the watery shagging).
