the_elyanI am currently listening to ULLAdubULLA, the remix album derived from the War of the Worlds.
Now this - a dance remix album based on a narrative-based musical piece - is patently a preposterous idea (no-one would do it to the Lord of the Rings - at least I bloody hope not). Thankfully, given the War of the Worlds is a preposterous record to start with, it can be got away with.
Whether it's good enough to justify the space it takes up is for the conscience of the indiviual listener - certainly an antiseptic reggae-lite rework of The Spirit of man is peripheral at best to the Passage to Paradise.
It is, nonetheless, an interesting listen. My only major problem with it is the amount of Vocoder-ed vocals. Vocoder-ed Richard Burton merely sounds even more scary than the original. Vocodering the gorgeous Julie Covington, however, is a crime against beauty, however.
In domestic news, I couldn't remember where the bottle of water I habitually keep in the fridge was. Then I remembered I had put it in the freezer to chill a little. Last night.
Oops. It seems to have survived the experience, amazingly...
