If I am ever asked to curate a "The 20 Greatest British Pop Songs In The World ... Ever!" kind of thing, the first half closer is going to be "A Town Like Malice" by the Jam.
There are plenty of other Jam singles I like - the Eton Rifles and Going Underground to name but two - but A Town Like Malice is unstoppably splendid.
I am also currently much taken with the universal truths expressed by Bat Surrender. In particular "That bullshit is bullshit, it just goes by different names".
Damned straight.
