As someone who has spent a lot of time in Greenwich, I find this very sad - the CS was always something that was there, being impressive in the background. And even for someone who knows almost no maritime history, the significance of the shop is obvious.
There is also some worry that gas canisters stored on it could explode. Given that the ship is locked into a huge explanse of wooden decking, God knows how much damage that could do...
It is, of course, the kind of fire that you hope isn't arson, but there really aren't many other viable explanations.
Definitely not the way I wanted to start the day...
