Jul. 28th, 2005 12:08 amIn answer to sherod's question, the first night did indeed go pretty well, especially given that it drizzled heavily for most of the first half (outdoor production, y'see).
Smallish house - probably 50-60 - whose patience was tested somewhat by the rain, but most of whom stayed to the end.
And though there were various fluffs, and a prompt or two, nearly all of it got smoothed over without the audience really noticing. Poor old Lenny (longtime stalwart of the Society, and amiable old fart of this parish) forgot two of his four lines, and turned a delightful puce colour, but that's about average (Lenny is a lovely chap, but tricky to act with - some of you may remember my intense whining about his unwitting near-derailment of a show I was in 18 months ago, where he was the lynchpin of the action).
God willing we will have better weather the rest of the run - especially tomorrow, as two readers are braving the Fens to come and see - and it should turn out a really strong show...
