Overheard being said by one of the curators at Brighton Pavilion:
"Cancel the search. We've found the giraffe".
Figure that one out...
Also, while wandering in search of the beautiful church of St Michael and All Angels, I was walking up a side-street and met a man dressed as a giant banana. On a side-street...
It's been a pretty full day.
I also ended up paying £3.70 for a bottle of Magner's in a pub in London - HOW MUCH??? - and the train home brought the usual cabaret, in the shape of two teenagers with music on phone loudspeaker full blast (they did turn it down when I asked, at the small price of deciding I was the funniest thing, like, ever ... which probably says more about their lives than mine).
Now I hope I might sleep, otherwise there'll be hell to pay...
