Listening to the new Pet Shop Boys album.
Hmmm... looks like they've lost their nerve again. Just as the complex and melancholic Behaviour led to the Day-glo Very, the political and aware Fundamental seems to have led to an album of deliberately simple pop. It's very pleasant, and the production is as polished as ever, but I'm not sure I'm convinced.
Talking of pure pop, out of the blue the Lightning Seeds are back, ten years after their last album. the new one isn't out for a konth, but I have got my mitts on a promo. It's very lush, and in places quite melancholic (like Broudie's solo album, in fact). But it's good to have them back...
