If people are going to make posts about Big Brother, I am quite happy for you to leave me filtered into them, but you must realise I may make my own consequent judgements about your taste and discernment.

Or to put it another way: you have the right to remain silent, but anything you do say may be used against you in evidence.

There is an article in today's FT fretting about the fact the the 2008 US Presidential election will eat up more than $1bn in campaign contributions.

This sounds terrifying, until you consider that today it was also announced that next season's Premiership football wages bill will top £1bn.

£1bn, remember, is nearly twice $1bn, and the latter is paying to elecet probably the most powerful person in the world, whilst the former is paying for a large number of men to kick a leather recreation of a pig's bladder around the place.

The world is a very odd plac.
