Something entirely pointless:
I was pondering on questions of our rail network, and trying to decide what the biggest town or city in mainland Braitain without a direct rail connection to London is. I had originally come up with Lincoln, but further pondering led me to conclude it is probably my own home town of Middlesbrough, or at least the Teesside conurbation as a whole (unless you grew up there, you would be hard pressed to separate Middlesbrough, Thornaby, Stockton and Billingham into separate areas).
This is entirely separate from the largest place without any rail link, which is Corby, by some distance.
I may be wrong on the former point, however.
And after that entirely pointless bit of trivia, I return you to your scheduled programming.
