Well, another day, another interview. Seemed to go OK, though I am an appalling judge of these things. And cost a wallet-sapping £16 to get there, because I had to go at peak time (given non-peak is a tenner, and covers various other routes too, this is a significant difference).

Also irritated myself by spending morwe than I intended on a lunch almost entirely devoid of whelm, at the Glasshouse, one of Norwich's three Wetherspoon's. Oddly enough, after their earlier homgeneity, I am finding that the quantity and quality of food at different Wetherspoon's varies quite a lot these days. For the amount I sopent, I might as well have waited another half-hour until they opened, and gone to the Briton's Arms, a lovely pub-turned-cafe on Norwich's prettiest street, which does reasonable and reasonably healthy lunches.
Ah well, we live and learn...

Now, I wonder what it says about my mental state that my current plan for the rest of this evening is to watch Apocalypse Now, or possibly the Godfather?

Probably that I have a rare yen for some decent film action...
On mid-session interval from Apocalypse Now: Redux. An awesome film, but a bloody heavy experience for a Tuesday night (and gets more heavy from this point on - Willard is still only creeping round the edges of the insanity thus far).

Now to see if, on a second viewing, I can figure out the point of the famous French Plantation scene any better than I did first time round. I wouldn't say the chances are high...

[switching from being wrapped up in Apocalypse Now to talking to my mother took some doing too...]
Well, I survived Apocalypse Now. And I still don't understand the French plantation scene.

The rest of the film, however, remains a blinding piece of film-making...
Do you ever get the feeling, when you read people's diaries who add "lol" to the end of every other phrase, that if they laughed out loud that often in real life, everyone within a twenty-yard radius would be edging nervously toward the door?

And this is prompted by random scanning, not anyone known to me. No, really...
