One good reason for the drinking last night was that as of the Tuesday after New Year, I will be back in paid employment. With a 50-mile each way a day commute, admittedly, but the salary is sufficient to compensate for the (deep breath) £230 a month travel cost.

January is going to eat into the finances more than somewhat, however, because I have to cough up £220-odd to my beloved Institute too...

Now, if I can just survive today...
